Vicki Marie Stolsen

Vicki Marie Stolsen graduated from the University of Washington with a Masters of Fine Art in Photography. After being influenced by the faculty from the Friends of Photographers Workshops, she began the Objet Trouvè collection in 2004. Object Trouvè, which means “found objects” in French, is an ongoing, film-based body of photographic art that continues to motivate and excite the artist’s creativity.

Stolsen’s bold, rich, and colorful photographs focus on everyday objects, such as the martini. “The martini is a twentieth century archetype that everyone understands - it references ritual and purity - passion and desire - elegance and class.” Stolsen uses her camera to “excavate” the still life, “narrowing and refining the image to uncover ever more detail.”

Stolsen is also known for exhibiting her new pieces in non-gallery venues, such as restaurants, fashion boutiques, and warehouse lofts. “Art galleries are too precious for my taste - I want to put the work where people congregate to enjoy their lives.”
